I’ve loved telling stories for as long as I can remember. Before I could even write, I filled colorful construction paper with drawings that told original stories. A few years later, I was folding printer paper into homemade picture books, complete with illustrations and handwritten text. By the time I was eight years old, I was typing chapter books on my family’s computer. Looking back, it’s funny how many different careers I imagined for myself. At one point, I wanted to be a painter, then a movie director, then the president, and later a lawyer. While those dreams came and went, one thing never changed: I wanted to create stories that would inspire, encourage, and entertain children.
That love for storytelling eventually grew into a love for publishing. In 2019, I graduated from Regent University with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in writing. During college, I realized that while I loved writing my own stories, I also genuinely enjoyed helping other writers strengthen theirs. Editing allowed me to combine my love of storytelling with my appreciation for organization, collaboration, and the creative process. From that point on, I knew I wanted a career in publishing.
After navigating the uncertainty of COVID-19, spending a year teaching English in South Korea, and working in education and daycare back in the United States, God answered a prayer that had been on my heart for years. In 2022, I joined Focus on the Family as an assistant editor for Clubhouse and Clubhouse Jr. magazines. It was a dream come true to work for a publication that had encouraged Christian kids for generations.
Over the next three years, I advanced to associate editor, where I managed Clubhouse Jr.’s editorial schedule, acquired and edited manuscripts, collaborated with writers, proofread multiple rounds of magazine pages, and helped guide each issue from planning to publication. I also wrote numerous articles, represented the magazines at writers’ conferences, and had the opportunity to teach aspiring writers. One of my favorite projects was creating Living Hope, a serialized comic for Brio magazine that received first-place honors in the comic category at the 2026 Evangelical Press Association Awards.
Today, I continue serving children and families through writing and editing. I’m a staff editor and writer for Calvary Chapel Magazine, contribute articles to GO! Christian Magazine, and work as a freelance editor, writer, and sensitivity reader for children’s and faith-based publishing projects. My bylines have also appeared in Clubhouse, Clubhouse Jr., Brio, and Boundless. Whether I’m polishing someone else’s manuscript or writing one of my own, I enjoy helping stories become the very best they can be.
Although I’ve conducted interviews and written many nonfiction articles over the years, fiction has always held my heart. I especially enjoy writing for children and teens because those are the stories that shaped me growing up. My hope, is to create books and articles that make young readers laugh, think, imagine, and ultimately grow closer to Christ. I also would love to turn some of my story ideas into TV shows. Lord willing, I’ll break into the children’s television industry one day soon.
My faith has shaped every part of my journey. I grew up in a Christian home where church was simply part of life. We attended every Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday evening service, and I went to Christian schools from kindergarten through college. Those experiences gave me a strong biblical foundation and a desire to use storytelling as a way to encourage the next generation.
When I’m not writing or editing, I’m usually brainstorming my next middle-grade novel, reading children’s literature, or spending time with my husband, Robbie, and our silly black cat, Beckett. I feel incredibly grateful that God has allowed me to build a career around something I’ve loved since I was a little girl with a box of crayons and a head full of stories.
